Occupying Foreclosures Catching On | Rortybomb

Direct action in aid of saving people’s homes is a powerful tool. This article discusses several examples of community based action having an effect on the foreclosure and reposession of homes, including the widely known example of Rose Gudiel. Rose recruited members of the occupy movement to help prevent the bank, which already had an order allowing eviction, from removing her and her disabled mother from their home. The protest resulted in Fannie Mae modifying her mortgage to allow her to stay.
